Snack Time is Anytime

If you’re like me, your diet is 90% snacks! I tend to get stuck in an endless loop of sweet and salty, sweet and salty . . . Here are some of the best:

Enjoy Life Soft Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies

Based on the soy-free and gluten-free label, I would normally judge this all-natural snack to be a little to healthy for my liking, but it is really delicious. It tastes kind  of like the Chewy Chips Ahoy I used to have in my lunchbox.

Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter

This one’s sort of like a dairy-free Nutella, called “Newtella” in vegan restaurants. It’s very addictive — I’ll go in for a spoonful and end up having five!

Justin’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Another great one from Justin’s. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups used to be  my favorite — but trust me these are so much better! Just be sure to watch out for the milk and white chocolate ones which contain dairy.

Van Leeuwen’s Dark Chocolate Vegan Ice Cream

This one is verging on dessert, but I couldn’t resist because I need you all to know about the magic that is Van Leeuwen’s. Van Leeuwen’s is a New York and LA based ice cream brand selling both dairy and dairy-free ice cream. Their dairy free dark chocolate ice cream is the best ice cream I’ve ever had — before or after going vegan. Their cookie dough flavor is also spectacular. I can’t speak much for the actual ice cream because I usually just pick the cookie dough out but the cookie dough chunks are amazing — all old-fashioned and butterscotch-y. My recommendation: get one scoop of dark chocolate, one scoop of cookie dough and drizzle with chocolate sauce.

Little Lad’s Herbal Corn

We all know of Earth Balance’s White Cheddar and Butter popcorns (yum!), but how many of us have been lucky enough to experience Little Lad’s Herbal Corn? I was once unable to find any Earth Balance, and disappointedly bought this instead. I wasn’t looking forward to it — at first taste I didn’t even like it — the savory, herbal seasoning mix was too intense for snacking for my taste. But by the time I finished my first bag I was addicted and quickly ordered five more.

David’s Sunflower Seeds

Sunflower Seeds are a tradition on both sides of my family. On the Jewish side, we call them “poly seeds” and on the Cuban side, “semillas”. David’s sunflower seeds are a great snack to sit down and relax with — just try not to eat the whole bag!

Triscuit Crackers

I have a weird Triscuit addiction; I have been known to eat an entire box at a time. Triscuits are so simple yet so delicious.

Dirty Potato Chips (Sea Salt)

There’s no snacking experience like a bag of crispy, greasy potato chips. The combination of kettle cooking, sea salt and peanut oil make Dirty Potato Chips really delicious.

For those of you who aren’t junk food machines like me, here’s what I eat when I’m trying to be a little healthier:

Pecans, duh!

Pecans taste good! And they’ve got good fat — whatever that means. Eat them!

Mini Bell Peppers

Mini Bell Peppers are even sweeter and easier to snack on than adult bell peppers, and they’re so cute!

Stonyfield O’Soy Yogurt (Vanilla)

Since Silk changed their recipe, O’Soy is my  new favorite. It’s creamy, delicious and tastes oddly like cake.

Snack on — it’s easier than cooking!
